Economist and president of Bradesco, Octavio de Lazari Jr., assumed the presidency of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Federation of Banks (FEBRABAN) last Wednesday (March 30), replacing Pedro Moreira Salles, co-president of the Board of Directors of Itaú Unibanco.
Change is a natural part of the process of alternating leadership in the entity’s decision-making sphere, which is responsible for its strategic direction.
During his five years in office, Pedro Moreira Salles was responsible for important changes at FEBRABAN, which adopted a more open stance towards Brazilian society, clarifying the role of the financial system and addressing sensitive issues such as interest rates and bank spreads, as well as improving communication channels.
