If you’re an equities portfolio manager looking for a seat in New York, some very rich Brazilians will probably take your call.

BW Gestão de Investimentos (Brasil Warrant Investimentos) (BWGI) the family office of one of Brazil’s richest families has been building out its New York office for the past year. It is still hiring.

BWI declined to comment for this article, but after poaching Jason Siegel, the head of Brookfield’s multistrategy hedge fund platform last year, along with his colleague Kristin Willoughby, and Rob Levites from Weiss multistrategy advisors, BWGI has continued hiring.

Its more recent recruits include Vikas Goyal, the former head of trading technology at hedge fund Jain Global, who joined in New York in February as head of technology, and Sibo Sang and and Jacob Guan who joined as a risk manager and quant researcher respectively in May,
